I Bumped My Head Will There Be A Scar?

I literally bumped my head so bad it created a deep gash right in the middle of my forehead. I did not realize I was bleeding until I looked in the mirror. There was no one around but me. I could have panicked at the sight of the blood. I could have called the rescue squad. I could have drove 40 miles to the emergency room. I did none of the above. Instead I thought of the cut man in the corner of a boxing match. I applied pressure to stop the bleeding. I cleaned the wound. I topped it with an anti-biotic. And lastly placed a bandage on my injury. Iced it a little to prevent swelling. We can do the same in life, when we"bump our heads". The corner cut man is, God. We apply pressure on the wound using the bible. The antibiotic is Jesus. The bandage is prayer. Will you be left with a scar? Perhaps. The scar will all but disappear when we apply the proper medication.Psalm 30:2 O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.

There is nothing like an encouraging word. This I cannot write about more. It is so easy to criticize. It is so easy to find the wrong. We find wrong everywhere we look. How much encouragement do you see? You know there are a million and one video games out there and I find that most are designed to have you as the player act on some skill level to receive a token, which in turn gets you to the next level including gathering enough tokens to win or beat the game. Let us use this concept in our daily activities. Let us give an encouraging word today. Let us ask for an encouraging word today and everyday from our God. Use encouragement as your token. Continue building on a giving heart. Your blessings will come. You will beat the game!

And Too This Shall Pass

Have you ever noticed, when you are physically and mentally exhausted, "things" seem amplified to the tenth power? You say to yourself, "Here we go again". You think to yourself okay, Devil really? Yes, there is a never ending struggle everyday of our lives. Here's the ticket: We can choose, yes I said choose our battles. We truly have a choice. You see when we are weary. When we have other things to do, all we have to do is look up, get down on your knees and say God you said no weapon formed against me shall prosper. God you said, that you would not give me more then I can handle. God you said have faith in you. And finally and this is the most important and ultimately the most difficult, you give it to him (God). And the whisper you hear is "this too shall pass". Let go! Let God!

Coming Home

There is no substitute for this feeling. Coming home. A mother or father coming home to his or her family after long hard day of work. A soldier from deployment. A person who has been away, be it school or incarceration. Or after being away on a well deserved vacation. No,there is nothing like coming home. It's the physical things that take place that bring the most comfort. The smell, the look. The smiles, hugs and kisses from family. The feeling of Ah....or Whew.... or "Thank You Lord For Getting Me Here Safely." We all look forward to coming home. Home is where the heart is. God provides a spiritual home to all who ask. Pray this prayer when seeking a spiritual home.Isaiah 49:13 Lord I shout for joy,and thank you for the heavens. I rejoice, when I look at your earth, I burst into song for the mountains. For you LORD comfort the people and will have compassion on all who are in need. Thank You for the comfort of your home. Amen!

A New Outlook

Imagine having to use your imagination to be some where other then you are presently. Some have to rely on a book, a bottle, a drug to take them away. I say this: it is not always practical to get away, but you can use the strength of God to guide, motivate, forgive, and ask to move on. Ask God for a New Outlook. Create your future. Do not rely on anyone to do this for you. Pray this prayer Psalm 18:2
LORD you are my rock, my fortress and my deliverer. I say again, God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Amen

How Can I Be Righteous Before God?

I have read a wonderful answer to this question, it comes from the book of Job chapter 26:2-3 but the whole chapter answers the question. Here's Job's reply when asked by a man from the Shuite tribe,a neighbor named Bidad . How have you helped him who is without power? Have you saved the arm that has no strength? How have you counseled the one with no wisdom? Basically Job is saying do not sit here and ask this question without giving of your heart. Giving from your soul. Do for others. God questions nothing. He is a forgiving God. An almighty presence. A merciful God. The answer to the questions comes from within. Pray to God everyday for understanding. And by all means give from your heart.

Time To Reflect

I have stopped to smell the roses on many occasion. It is a wonderful feeling. Our lives these days are filled with so many complex time limitations, or so it seems. If we just stop to reflect on our lives. It really can be a simple process. Ask yourself should I stress about this? Is it something that I can put on hold? Is it a life or death situation? Does it prevent me from maintaining my basic needs? If none of the above take place, calm it down. Slow your roll. Peace be with you.. Jesus had to take some time out to reflect. He took 40 days to be exact. And yes the devil tried his best to tempt him. But he prevailed. He spoke directly to God. He thought about his mission. He simply reflected. Take some time out today and everyday. Meditate. Pray. Psalms 85:12-13 The LORD will indeed give what is good, and you will yield the harvest. Your righteousness will go before him, and God will prepare the way for your steps.

Be Careful What You Ask For

These words are so wonderfully true. Have you ever said silently to yourself,"Oh I wish I had a BMW or I wish I had that big house on the hill." Or I wish I had that fine looking man or women. Let's be hypothetical here. You get your wishes. The nice BMW. The big house on hill, the fine man or women, and all of a sudden....the BMW starts breaking down, the house burns down due to faulty wiring. The man or women stays out all night, and has baby mamma drama. It's all bad. You are shaking your head and asking yourself "What the heck happened?"Here's the answer. Things can look good on the outside, and unless you take a little time to study the person, place or thing, you may run into trouble. One other tip: you cannot make a person, place or thing work if it's broke. Just cut your losses and make a better choice next time. God made us in his image. We are not met to be burdened with stuff. Ask God for guidance. Above all keep your head up. It is okay to make a mistake or two. All of us do. Pray this 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Amen

Do I Look Pass The Lies & Deceit ?

I am so struggling with this. I write everyday telling my life stories and experiences. I can understand most of life's lessons most of the time. It is when a situation rises that has me perplexed to say the least. It has me questioning can I truly look past these character flaws. It irks me so to stand in front of someone who is a liar and a thief. When you experience that combination you so want to H-O-L-L-E-R, I know you are lying! I know you took that! Just stop! But I cannot. A liar knows he or she is not honest. After all they have one of the hardest jobs to maintain. That is remember the last lie they told. The thief has to worry to know end that if I take the wrong thing at the wrong time it could get ugly. I am as human as the next person and I have by no means been Ms. Goody Two Shoes. Here's my difference. I have asked God and will continually ask God for his guidance. I will ask for forgiveness in judging. That is not my job, to judge that is. I must pray for the weak. Proverbs 19:9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will perish. The darkness shall come to light. Amen

This Little Light Of Mine, I'm Going To Let It Shine

Remember that song as a child. I can so vividly. Especially this time of year, school so freshly being let out for the summer. Mom's signing us up for "vacation bible school". Where we colored pages of bible characters. Had some sort of project with Elmer's glue and popsicle sticks. But most of all I remember the songs we sang. "Jesus Loves The Little Children." "Oh How I Love Jesus". "This Little Light Of Mine." As a child you don't really know how the words of these songs can have such powerful meaning. I especially did not realize the significance of these words "This Little Light Of Mine." My light comes from within me. The light that I am going to let shine. My God's light. He (God) literally wants our belief in him to be passed on to others. My light shines everyday. And when there is a glimmer, I grab that Bible as fast as I can. I find an inspiring message to bring that light of mine back to a wonderful and glowing shine.2 Corinthians4:6 It is God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness, make God's light shine in our hearts. God gives us the light of knowledge and of the glory of God through Christ Jesus, Amen

Just Give Thanks

This day is set aside to give the fathers a shout out. Happy Fathers Day! We give you all the praise. Glory to the Father most high. Your work is never done. We simply give you thanks. Amen. Ephesians 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Let's Move On

Today's main stream news headlines are well.... to put it in a politically correct format "full of bias, to say the least, an exponentially, uncreative mess" I hardly see any news that influence the masses in a positive way. I think Jesus had it right. In fact I know Jesus had it right. He spoke D-I-R-E-C-T-L-Y to the people. He explained the problem, and presented a solution at the same time. Yes, he spoke in Parables (A simple story illustrating a moral or religious lesson)but his lessons were for all to understand. We need to turn the television off. If we choose to use our media sources for information, choose your information well. John 8:32 says Then you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Where Do The Answers Lie?

I am a fan of The History and National Geographic channels. Why? You say. These channels always provide interesting answers to the "why" or "how". Why is there so much water on earth? What is gravity? How and why did these huge animals called dinosaurs disappear? Why is there so many natural disasters in our time? How were the states formed? How were the huge pyramids made? These are some examples of the questions these channels attempt to answer. Notice I say attempt. And yes, science tries to explain away or solve these questions and more. I am also a fan of my most high God and I look to my Bible for answers. The Bible has a wealth of historic fact. The Bible has stories of man and his behavior dating back over 3000 years. When it comes to the soul. When it comes to faith. When it comes to right and wrong. None of these channels hold the answer. No,the History, and National Geographic channels are entertaining but pales in comparison to my Bible. Pray this prayer of faith. Lord I know your presence is unseen. You don't have a visual channel, Lord you have a spiritual channel and I am with you. Show me your way O Lord. For you are my wisdom,my guide and my protection each and every day. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen

How Does It Feel To Know You Will Be Betrayed?

Can you imagine knowing from the time you could remember, that you were going to be betrayed by someone you love. Some one who was in your fold. One of your homies. Can you imagine the tremendous pressure weighted upon you to go to work everyday knowing this? I cannot imagine. Jesus had a hell of a job. Imagine his resume.

Purpose: To teach all men the ways of God
Experience : Growing up watching the great religious hierarchy treat people terribly.
What he brought to the table: Peace, Love and Understanding. Hope for the sinners. A understanding of God and his expectations. To show one forgiveness. Using his leadership skills:To Delegate task, and assignments to his team, to pass on the word of God.
All the time knowing he would be the sacrificial lamb for mankind. All the while knowing how he would be betrayed by his own. All the while knowing he had a serious job to do. I say this all to say, thank God for Jesus. Getting up everyday for our daily grind is miniscule compared to this. A prayer of thanks. Ephesians 5:20 Lord I will always give you thanks, Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ Amen.

Gods Insurance, My Assurance

There are times when I feel like I am climbing a hill barefoot, stepping on stones along the way. Have you ever felt like that? Life can be challenging. Here's one thing to remember. If it is so easy you don't feel it, something is wrong. If you did not work for it,something is wrong. God has given us the tools to live a happy and fruitful life. We have to earn it. Yes, we may step on stones along the way but we are reminded when we do that God is near. Just call on him and those stones will disappear. God has insured that through Jesus all things are possible. Jesus gave his life for us. So that we can to live life the right way. Yes, we fall but we are covered (insured by God)and forgiven if we ask. I am assured each and everyday that God is with me. Especially when I am climbing that hill and I step on those stones. Pray this prayer when facing that hilly stone filled climb. Lord grant me safe passage. Isaiah 41:10 I will not fear, for you God are with me I will not be dismayed, for you are my God.You God, will strengthen me and help me. I will call on you to uphold me with your righteous right hand. Amen

It's All About The Packaging

I have experienced all sorts of people in my lifetime. I have realized a couple things. You will notice after being in the presence of someone, their inner side shows eventually. A person male or female can look very appealing on the outside or not. A person can present a swagger or not. Here's where the packaging comes into play. And it goes back to a saying that our grandmothers so loudly expressed. "Chile you can take a ninja out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of a ninja" You may replace "ghetto" with adjectives like "game", "street""liar" "cheater". And you can replace "ninja" with ..... oh well, you fill in the blanks. It is rare and in between that you find a person who has changed. Who has worked hard to get that persona off of them. When you do, find that gem understand that God had plenty to do with it. You will find that these people are not selfish. That these people want the best for everyone. They are givers. Pray this prayer when you are surrounded by the deceivers. Lord help and protect me from them that do not have my best interest at heart. Proverbs 14:6 The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning. This I pray in Jesus name. Amen

A Test By God

Have you ever been tested by God? You think that you have prepared well for any test God gives you. You've prayed and listened. You've been faithful. You have all that you need to pass the test right? Oh I forgot one other thing. You have also been obedient as far as you know. It's all good. I want to pause here and tell the story of the Abraham test. Now mind you this took place way before Jesus came and sacrificing was part of God's requirements. This one day God spoke to Abraham and commanded him to take his son Isaac to Mount Moriah to offer him as a sacrifice to God. This was God’s test of Abraham’s faith. Abraham loved his son very much, but did not hesitate to follow God’s words. Abraham was about to sacrifice his son when heard the voice of God saying, “Abraham, Stop! Do not hurt your son. You have proven your faith and shown how much you love me by your willingness to sacrifice your son for me, you have passed the test. I have been tested like this, God has laid a plan out for me and then he said wait....the plan has changed. We must LISTEN to Gods word all the time. He will never steer us wrong.

Have You Ever Felt "That Something Is Just Not Right Feeling?"

A somethings' just not right feeling comes from deep down inside of you, and stays with you. A nervous feeling. A feeling that makes you sweat. A feeling that does not sit comfortably with you. A feeling of unsureness. These are all built in senses that God has given us to make sound decisions. Wow! imagine that, a God given sense. Do we all follow it? Or do we go against the grain and not? Life is not simple. We make life changing decisions everyday. God, if we are listening helps us to make them correctly. Follow your instinct. Listen to the messages God gives you. Pray this prayer when perplexed. God please show me the way. I am listening. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Amen. Follow God, he will lead you in the right direction.

To survive in this world you have to have faith. And when your faith waivers, you have to ask God to send you an angel. Let that angel help you grapple the faith that you have back to the surface. See the difference between a spiritual warrior and a normal everyday person is our connection. We spiritual warriors are so wired to fight others battles we tend to forget our own. That is where the angels come in. Psalms 91:11 For God shall give his angels charge over you. To keep you in all ways. God I pray that you send your angels today and everyday to cover us in the times of need. Amen

Have You Ever Witnessed A Success Story?

I am in awe today. I stopped in my tracks and said Lord I have to give you the praise! I have to testify here. Our God is a powerful God. Anytime he (God) can take little boy, away him from the streets (which could have claimed his life). Mold and guide him, show him the light. All the lessons learned are excepted and used as the stepping stones to the present. It is beautiful to see. Yes I have witnessed a success story or two. I am so happy to see this. From the deep dark places to the bright. To be in a wonderful, tremendously successful place that you are in now, yes, I give praise to God. For this mothers prayers has been answered for both my sons. Ephesians 5:20 I shall always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You Lord for all that you have done.

A Lamp Under My Feet

We often go through our daily routines thinking that the day will be the same. Aside from a alarm going off late. Or an occasional car issue. On the most part we live and breath a daily routine. We should however give God the praise everyday and realize that if it weren't for him we would be lost. We should also know that even when we do not call on God, he still has a lamp under our feet. Try to incorporate this prayer in your daily routine. Psalms 119:105 Lord please continue to bless me with your word which is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Let go and let God.

Armed And Dangerous

Let us break this down for a minute. To be armed and dangerous normally means that one has intentions of doing harm to someone or them selves. That one may be unpredictable. The words stir up fear. These words are meant to scare one into submission. Okay let us put a different spin on this. If we equip ourselves with goodness in our hearts. With great and giving intention. With God on our sides. Sharing lessons learned. Reading the Bible. Are we considered armed and dangerous? The answer is yes, to one cat. Old Diablo himself. We must stay armed with the word. We must stay dangerous with truth. We must stir up fear by forgiving. We must be unpredictable by sharing and giving from our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.

Do You Have The Warrior Gene?

Many times as a parent we want to fight our childrens' battles. And yes, when they are young that instinct is maternal. Meaning God instilled in us that our children are defenseless against the world and it's Babylonian ways. During this time with our children we teach them the skills it takes to make it on their own. Some of us are better at this then others. We do the best we can. Once our child leaves the "nest" they are pretty much old enough to do for themselves. There are children/adults, out there, who are experiencing hard times. We were never equip to deal with, teach, or make the best of STRESS. This is where the warrior gene comes in. If we can sit quietly when stress appears in it's ugly forms, we can become proactive. We can become smart in realizing that STRESS is not our fault. We can fight off our inner demons. I have realized over the years that it takes the mighty power of God to do this. When stressed. When angry. When you are about to cry pray this: God please help me to abide by these verses. Ephesians 4:26,27 God says that, in your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.
Ephesians 4:31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Lord I ask this in Jesus name amen.

Not Everyone Shares Our Triumphs

Have you ever worked really, really hard on a project at work, only to get it shot down by the gate keeper? Gate keeper defined as that person sitting on the fence waiting for you to fail. That person who has no idea what it took for you to get where you are. That person who smiles more when they are critical then when they are not. Mind you this is not the boss, but the person you have to get through to see the boss. This can be so frustrating. Our labor, our fruits, our work ethic, shall not be compromised by the gate keepers. When we have God in our lives, we can ask that the gate keeper be changed or removed. Our triumphs are seen by the most high. And remember the way that you handle a gate keeper is to kill them with kindness. Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

So You Slipped

Todays' hustling bustling world can create a misstep or two. We may have one two many toast at the neighborhood bar. We may use money we don't have to buy a pair of shoes. We may make a judgement here or there about someone. The bottom line is we are wrong. And most times we feel really guilty when we do something we shouldn't,(there are some that do not feel the guilt or shame) I will pray for them. But when we do feel guilty or we feel bad about doing something, we should look up, and ask the Lord for forgiveness. He is an awesome God. He has mercy on us. We do need to work on ourselves yes, but prayer, humbleness, forgiveness are all achievable through Christ Jesus. I find that reading the Bible helps me in these tough times.Isaiah 1:18 says; Come now and let us reason together says the Lord.Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.

The Time Is Now

In my travels I have seen lots of faces. Some have sad eyes. Some have move over I am in a hurry eyes. Some have happy eyes. Some have confused eyes. I enjoy conversing with the ones with happy eyes. It is said that the eyes are the key to the soul. I firmly believe this to be true. I met a wonderful lady yesterday in the airport, she had happy eyes. After speaking with her she and I agreed on the love of God. And that we were both givers. And what made me smile the most was that she was so open. She shared a story. She had been a bus driver for a rural town in the south for many years. And all the children each year wanted to ride her bus. She smiled each day, hugged the children and had a happy bus. The school principle called her in the office and told her that the law said she had to stop giving hugs. She stopped driving the bus. She couldn't go on without showing her love to those children. Long story short. The children insisted that she be reinstated and through the request of the parents she was allowed to return to her passion. She loved those children and they her. She continued to give hugs until she retired last year. The time is now people. There are many out there who need hugs. Love your fellow man today not tomorrow. God gives out hugs everyday. Can you?
