During the times of Jesus and actually throughout the whole Bible, man asked that question. And throughout the Bible it constantly explains what is expected. But man kept failing, falling and doing out right dastardly deeds. Not all, but some. Enough to upset the most high God. Can you imagine giving your child everything he or she ever asked for and some? You taught them everything you know. You treated them with awesome love. And they (the children) still acted out. Finally you had enough and you started to punish your child for the bad things done. You had to think "wait I can't do this, I cannot punish them, they are my children" I need to get them to understand what is right and that I love them. They need teachers to reinforce what I have been trying to say the whole time. Hmm who shall have this task? I think most know the answer, just in case there were any questions. He sent Jesus. Matthew 19: 16-17 And, behold, a child came and said unto him, (Jesus)Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why do you call me good? There is no one that is good but one, that is, God: but if you want to enter into a good life, keep God's commandments.
