During the times of the old testament most of the stories relating to God and his laws were kept among the "chosen" people. When Jesus came along the word of God was shared among all people. When he died it (the word ) was still carried on by the disciples. And by Paul who had the task of going to far off lands dangerously so, in fact it cost him his life. The point is that there is something mighty and powerful in Gods words. All of these men who laid down their lives to pass it on knew that and made sure that it was written for generations to see. God wants us to know what is expected of us. He wants us to see that there have been those before us that experienced some of the same things we have and are going to continue to. Ephesians 2:11-13 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands) Remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
