Is God Consistent?

If there is any speculation to the subject of "climate change"I think the recent events have proven the fact that something has changed for the worst. If you read about some of the tragedies that took place in ancient times you can say, yes to the question. Is God consistent? There are too many disasters taking place to envision that it is all man-made. Some may argue the point and I shrug my shoulders to that. God said I am the Alpha and the Omega. I am the beginning and the end. We as Christians firmly believe this. Are we in end times? Only God knows. We need to stay in faith, in prayer and with love unconditionally for our fellow man. Not leaving out praise to God the almighty.

John 17:15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.

How Bad Is It?

When the headlines read this one or that one took their own life. How bad is it? I know down can be really down. Taking one's life shows me that you did not value your life. It is hard to step in anothers' shoes. I do not claim to do so. However, I have to revert to Jesus. I mean his life was hell. They chased him down. Tried to kill him on many occasions. I imagine he could have given up. His own disciple gave Jesus up and then killed himself. I took a class this last semester that tried to explain that as to why many ancients did commit suicide. I did not except that explanation and I don't except any today. God gave his son for any and everything that we as a humans has done. We are to lay our burdens on him. But when you worship false idols (money) or (power) or (fame) you can easily die by the same belief system. That means God was replaced with those things and he was not in their lives to intervene. Sad. My life is not mine to take. No matter how low it gets. And believe me it has gotten pretty darn low.
Isaiah 43:25 "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.

The Great Day Of The Lord

As most of you know God did a lot of his talking through prophets. This of course is the time before Jesus, when God had a one on one relationship with man. One of those prophets name was Zephaniah. Who was of the son of Cushi who's family had ties to the King of Judah Amon. So Zephaniah receives a direct message from God. God is angry and threatens to destroy everything. He tells the prophet this throughout the chapter. But as he continues in his anger he starts winding down a bit and describes how he will bring it all back as if nothing ever happened. What God wants understood is that he has the power to wipe everything out to start all over again. However through Jesus we have been given a pass so far. We must consider ourselves loved and blessed by the father the son and the holy spirit.
Psalm 46:1-3,7 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.

Discouraging Yes, Hopeless No

Boy, I am shaking my head more and more everyday. I am not exactly surprised by what is said. What I am surprised about is that no one seems to be challenging what is said. There are absolute lies being told and they are going unchallenged. I am reminded of the ancient times during Jesus' day. The heads of the church and the idol worshipers spoke words that many believed. It all seem to go along just fine for awhile. Then Jesus and his disciples came. And challenge he did(Jesus). Can you imagine going against the grain like that? He ultimately died for his challenges but at least his cause was  worthy. We are reaping the rewards everyday. What is needed to be remembered by all is during these times of uncertainty, unjustness, evil, greed, we must not give up hope. Those of us who know and love God should feel redeemed that Jesus took our places, and that giving God the praise and thanking him everyday shows God our faithfulness. He (God ) will take care of the rest.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

There's No Bond Stronger Than That Of God And You

Galatians 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

The most interesting part of any relationship is the beginning stages. The bonding stages. The getting to know one another stage. The developing a mutual respect of each other stage. We do this with our family members. We do this with our significant others, friends, co-workers. Some of us bond very well with nature and animals. So yes it takes bonding of the tenth power to have that relationship with God. At one time God had a magnificent bond with man. We all know what happened there. So Jesus is our mediator. Through him we know that our bond with God is signed, sealed and delivered.

Our Faith Is Always Being Tested

Faith is not an easy thing to stay constant with. You are always being tested. We as humans have a  time just moseying around our everyday lives not worrying about a thing. It is very hard. Even for the staunch believer. I think God knows that. And definitely Jesus knew it. I do not think the early Jews knew it. I believe the high priest (rock stars) of the day, wanted to believe that living inherently of Gods laws and being born of the descendants of Moses, that a pass was given even if they fell short of Gods laws. We are and forever will be sinners. The only way our lives have been spared is through Jesus having had died on the cross, suffering and shedding his blood. So yes our faith is always a source of the enemies mainstay on this earth. We have to trust and believe in the Lord always. He knows our every need, we may have to remind the Lord of his promises to us, he knows.
Matthew 17:20 Jesus said, you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

We Should Be Eternally Greatful For Jesus' Atonement

Gods grace and mercy seem imminent for some. And unreachable for others. However as was taught by Jesus that through him, believing that he died for all sins gives everyone an even chance. God shows us mercy when we accept Jesus in our hearts. He died a horrible painful death, not because he wanted to. He suffered and took the pain instead of God imposing it on us. We are sinners. We cannot live perfect lives. We had to have atonement. And Jesus was that for us.

Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself,
and take up his cross, and follow Me." Mark 8:34

Sometimes All We Need Is A Little Prayer

Psalms 27

LORD, you are my Light and my Savior,
so why should I be afraid of anyone?
The LORD is where my life is safe,
so I will be afraid of no one!
 Evil people might attack me.
They might try to destroy my body.
Yes, my enemies might attack me and try to destroy me,
but they will stumble and fall.
Even if an army surrounds me, I will not be afraid.
Even if people attack me in war, I will trust in the Lord.
I ask only one thing from the LORD.
This is what I want most:
Let me live in the LORD’S house all my life,
    enjoying the LORD’S beauty
and spending time in his palace. [a]
He will protect me when I am in danger.
He will hide me in his tent. [b]
He will take me up to his place of safety.
If he will help me defeat the enemies around me,
I will offer sacrifices in his tent with shouts of joy.
I will sing and play songs to honor the LORD.
 LORD, hear my voice.
    Be kind and answer me.
My heart told me to come to you, LORD,
so I am coming to ask for your help.
 Don’t turn away from me.
Don’t be angry with your servant.
You are the only one who can help me.
My God, don’t leave me all alone.
    You are my Savior.
Even if my mother and father leave me,
the LORD will take me in.
I have enemies, LORD, so teach me your ways.
Show me the right way to live.
 My enemies have attacked me.
They have told lies about me and have tried to hurt me.
 But I really believe
that I will see the LORD’S goodness before I die. [c]
Wait for the LORD’S help.
    Be strong and brave,
and wait for the LORD’S help.

Real People Real Problems

Job of the bible, was a man who lived pretty decently. He had livestock, he had a great family. He did not want for anything. However he was one of the most severely tested for his faith then all of the characters in the bible. Just when he thought things were going well Job's world caved in. Unjustly so. Job was a good man and believed in God. So when he fell ill and did not seem to get any better he wanted it all to end. Why? He kept asking the Lord. The Lord seemingly ignored him. It got so bad in his suffering that Job's friends said to him " just give up on your God, he doesn't seem to care, in fact he seems to have given up on you". Why is your God punishing you like this? Job did not have an answer. But we find later that Satan had made a wager with God betting that Job would break and renounce him as his God. God said no he won't. The devil said watch. God said the only thing you can't bring upon my faithful servant is death. Job suffered so and survived, proving to himself, his family and to God that he was righteous after all and that Satan is a liar as he is today.
Psalm 16:8 have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Make The Connection

We often hear that if you make that connection" referring to a person, place or thing you would get further ahead. I would venture to say in this fast paced world it is to any one's advantage to "know" someone, in order to get your foot in the door.
The same principle applies to our relationship with God. Yes, we need to make the "connection" in order to gain access to the knowledge God wanted us to have. And yes, it would be a total advantage to "know" someone to get our foot in the door. And that person would be Jesus. So simply put the connection to God and heaven is through our savior Jesus Christ. Knowing that will pay big dividends during our lifetime and beyond.
Hebrews 1:2–3
... but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.

It Takes Wisdom & Understanding To Survive This World

It is said when God asked Solomon out of anything you could ask for what would it be? Solomon replied without hesitation "Wisdom and Understanding. 1Kings 3:5 At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you." 1Kings 3:10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom.
This is what is needed to survived in these troubling times. Just look around. There are those with money who are jumping to their deaths. There is constant war. So many things that need to be discerned. Pray for that when you pray. Wisdom and Understanding.

We Give You The Glory We Give You The Praise

There are so many, many negative things happening all around us. People giving up on life. People taking others lives. Mean ungodly things happening to seemingly good people. Unbelievers walking around thinking that they are in charge of themselves and everyone elses' destiny. If I were a text expert, my next sentence would be in capital letters; as to signal my shouting voice. Do not believe the hype. We must give God the praise always, always, always. He is the only one that can help us through these rough and unstable times. Violence is rampant. Liars are a dime a dozen. Vanity is so prevalent it isn't funny. And greediness oh I say no more. I think that about covers the seven deadly sins. Pray every day with your whole heart and soul.
Ecclesiastes 6:7-9 All the toil of man is for his mouth, yet his appetite is not satisfied. For what advantage has the wise man over the fool? And what does the poor man have who knows how to conduct himself before the living? Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of desire; this also is vanity and a striving after wind.

Blessed Are Those Who's Lawless Deeds Have Been Forgiven

In the letter written to the Romans Paul argues  that it is written in the "laws",  that because he was  circumcised (which was a Jewish right of passage) Moses' heirs would have an automatic pass into heaven.  That circumcision was all that was required for God to grant that pass. Because through faith and works which circumcision showed, it to be,this would be so. Paul questions this. What of the Gentiles(regular men & women)? He argues that through  Davids lineage, the same applies. Jesus is a decedent of David. And Jesus was circumcised like Moses. And through Jesus all men  have the same chance to enter into the kingdom. By works we are judged and sin is looked upon as sin. But again Jesus died for those sins. Gods law is meant to be followed yes, but  so many fail, and will continue to do so. We need to repent, ask forgiveness. Practice loving unconditionally without prejudice, and without judgement, and  remember that God gave his only son for us.
Romans 4:7-8 Blessed are those whose lawlessness deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the the Lord shall not impute sin.

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

It takes so much faith to believe that in all circumstances God got you. Even as you sleep, you trust and believe that you will wake in the morning to continue on with your life. What is very important is to live your life everyday so that when you do lay down you are not holding onto something that you should have said today. Like I love you. Or you know no matter what you are my everything. Do not put off the meaningful things in life. And do not assume the people who surround you know what you are thinking. Live each day as it was your last.
Romans 8:37-39  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I Called But You Did Not Answer

      Isaiah 65:11-13
But as for you who forsake the Lord
    and forget my holy mountain,
who spread a table for Fortune
and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny,
12 I will destine you for the sword,
    and all of you will fall in the slaughter;
for I called but you did not answer,
I spoke but you did not listen.
You did evil in my sight
    and chose what displeases me.”

I shake my head at the thought of God giving so many chances to mankind. He so desperately tried not to judge. He tried desperately not to hold a grudge. He tried over, and over again. The thing that puzzles me and then again it doesn't because we do it today. Mankind was given everything they needed to survive, but arrogance and greed changed their needs to wants and this turned into a chain of negative events.

The Message Is On The Wall

How can we not see them, the messages? They are so obvious right? You make sound decisions because you see them right? No not always. You may see the glass half full or empty. When you involve others in deciphering that message it can get very confusing. No the answer is go to the Lord. Make the request to see things clearly and stand by. Listen and see what is meant to see and hear. Do not let it get clouded, distorted or not see it at all. Jesus was the messenger. God sends his messages all the time. We have to be in tune enough to hear them. John 5:24 I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

You Have To Be Careful Of The Spirit By Which You Are Fed

There are some who have truly experienced the spirituality that comes with your faith in God. There are some who delve in places they shouldn't. 2 Corinthians 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. The spiritual world is very very powerful. When the Bible says we should fear God. I take it literally, I would most definitely fear him. He is the ultimate of  spiritual. The thing that gets me are the ones (on television and out in the world) who are performing stage shows. Spirituality is not meant to be a show. When Jesus healed the sick he would always say now go and live your life, but tell no one of this. Which I am sure he knew it was going to get told. His disciples had healing powers as well. Here's my take on modern society. I am very careful of who touches me. I will leave it at that. I believe the blood of Jesus covers us. Especially if we call on God to protect us. That is why he sent his only son, was to cover mankind. We must remember that. And also remember from where we get our spiritual food.
Matthew 23:13 But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.

You Must Go On No Matter What

Can you imagine if during Christianity's infancy Jesus and his disciples just gave up? After all Christians were considered the enemy because they were going against the Pharisees who were the "experts" on God and his laws.  With all of the dangers the word of God via Jesus Christ and the disciples went on any way. They never gave up. No matter how hard they were threatened, killed or ashamed they still continued in the word of God. One reason that comes to mind is that the word of God was finally brought to the everyday man and women.  That believing in God, that following his laws were not made just for the "chosen people". The difference being one had to go through Jesus Christ to receive the blessings  that God had intended for mankind.  Because before Jesus, mankind could not get it right. Man would always fall short. So to forgive mankind of his short comings he provided us with forgiveness, grace, mercy and salvation through Jesus Christ. So the word was spread in a way similar to how fables and stories were passed down generation after generation. Until the words took written form some years after Jesus died.
Romans 4:25 & 5:2 He was delivered over to death for our sins and then was raised to life to put us right with God. By faith in this, then, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.

They Continued To Praise God

If you read the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego you will be amazed at the story. I will make it short. There were three guys who hung out together all the time. They were connected to the kings family some kind of way through the daughters or something. Anyway all they did was drink and party with the king and his entourage. One day the king said hey guys listen if you are going to hang out here, you are going to have to worship my gods/idols. Well these guys were raised by God fearing families and they weren't going against God himself. They knew better, no matter how drunk they were. So the king told them okay party over dudes, and since you are going against my gods/idols and won't renounce your God I am throwing you in the fire pit/ stove. They were thrown in, but as they were one of God's angels came down to protect them and all they felt was a warm breeze blowing. They were surrounded by flames but weren't burning up. Instead of panicking they sang praises to God for everything. From the birds to the sky. The sea, the rain everything. They did this for hours. Finally the king had to let them go. You can find this story in more of a Biblical text in the book of Daniel 3.

Grace And Mercy Cover Us

You know that it is amazing to know that Jesus knew all the time that he was going to be betrayed. He knew of the hour, he knew by whom and he knew that his disciples would be cowardly and not stand up for him. Imagine trusting your crew to take care of you and they turn on you? This happens everyday. Husbands turn on wives, wives turn on husbands. Lunatics turn on innocent people. The list goes on. Heck the ancient people turned on God. It is written throughout the Bible. However the saving grace to this all is salvation, faith, grace and mercy which are given by God himself only through the suffering of Jesus are we forgiven for our sins. We have to believe that Gods grace and mercy covers us. Jeremiah 29:11-14 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

Of Which Fruit Do We Pick?

There are many who use metaphors to give meaning to their words. It is a very good way to open one's eyes to a life lesson. A cherry can look as if it were ripe and ready for picking. But is it sweet and juicy? It all depends on what the tree is fertilized and watered with. The same analogy can be used with some churches and church leaders. You can ask yourself these same questions, concerning your relationships, your son your daughter, your boss, your friends, your co-workers. It all really boils down to how and what someone is fed.
2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

It's All In The Master Plan

There are some who go around saying things like "if there were a God why does he let so many bad things happen?"The world is not perfect. If it was we would not have a world like we have one today. Everything would be "the same"there would be no choice. There would be no individuality. The prophecy has to be fulfilled. Jesus will come back. And we all know what is to follow. It is all in the master plan.
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Remember The Words I Say To You

I have to look at this world today as it is and really shake my head. The blatant evilness at the expense of men and women and children floor me. As I was reading my Bible I came across these verses. John 16:2-4 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yeah,  when that time comes, that whosoever kills you will think that he does so as a service of God.
And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
So basically Jesus was saying these people in high places will think they are doing the right thing. They will justify their impurities, faults and sinful ways. That is when you think, Jesus was right and he did say this in the times that he walked the earth. But look at today's world. There are so many parallels. John 15:20 Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.
Something to definitely think about.

Such Doubters

Can you imagine walking miles upon miles from city to city, healing people, teaching the things God wants you to remember, feeding thousands with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish? How about turning water into wine (not nasty low grade wine) the good stuff? How about calming a storm while you are chilling in the boat with the very ones who should not question one thing? Oh yeah and the raising of the seemingly dead not once but many times? Oh and lastly walking on water along side the boat that your posse was in. And yes there were many, many witnesses to all of this. And many asked Jesus if he was the messiah. And some had the audacity to say "well if you are prove it again". What? So many times Jesus said hey guys, it's me, yes I am the son of God. Yes, I am the Messiah. So many times these same people who saw all of these miracles doubted. This included Jesus' own disciples. And you know the Pharisees ( the rock star, mega church leaders of the day) hated on Jesus. Proclaiming that all good word and laws came from Moses who was the "voice of God" . Jesus said" hey listen I am not going against the laws of God, I am just sayin' you have failed these laws over and over again. But through me you will be able to get past the failure." Because that's who I am.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
I often wonder how it would be with some if Jesus came back today in a non-apocalyptic manor.

Some Times You Have To Face The Challenge Full On

How many times have you really just sheer panicked about something? If you are going to get the part in a movie. Or if you'll be able to pay the car or house note. Or if a loved one was going to live or die. Or does he or she love me?Many many situations to face by us everyday. How often do we take the bull by the horns and make "it" happen? It's normally when we take over, right? No this is not right. This is when things tend to go awry. Or it just doesn't work out the way we expected it to. Imagine if God wasn't behind David when he went out with 5 smooth stones and a sling shot to kill a man 10 x his size? I do not believe he would have been successful. There are many more incidents through out the Bible that demonstrate what it is to have God behind you. It is a humbling experience when we have to realize that we do not have full control over our destiny. There are a lot of people who would argue this very point. They are the lost and they think that they are in control. What they do not realize is that "cat" is so subtle he has them believing so. I myself want to be on the winning side of this life time game. And God is my coach. Deuteronomy 28: 1-2 If you listen obediently to the Voice of God, your God, and heartily obey all his commandments that I command you today, God, your God, will place you on high, high above all the nations of the world.  All these blessings will come down on you and spread out beyond you because you have responded to the Voice of God, your God.

Do Not Be So Comfortable

There are some believers who get complacent. Some who really believe that they are so covered because of their "holiness" their dedication to the church. Their giving to the community and philanthropic causes. I say that this is a false state of being. The enemy never ever stops trying to win our souls. It is a video game that never says "game over". No, not at all. What we have to remember is just as persistent as the enemy is, God can be persistent too. We have to call on him. We have to ask forgiveness everyday. Because, as holy as you or the next one thinks he or she is, we are all sinners and we sin everyday. But those of us who realize this we ask God to forgive us. After all he sent Jesus to this earth to die for mankind's sins. We need to be eternally grateful. I would be so fearful of God if I had to deal with him one on one. I am so glad that I have the compassion of my savior that I pray to, and that I can ask for forgiveness. Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

A Felt Connection

Can you imagine working your normal nine to five and some guy comes along and says hey look put all those things away, yeah just leave them. Come with me and I will make you famous. The men look around and say "is he talking to me"? I am a nobody, how can he be talking to me? But the men went and hung around him for months. Listening to every thing he said. Questioning his meaning of things. But they all felt a connection to this famous revolutionary. And learned from him through their own faults and failures that God's word was the ultimate thing that made men righteous but that through Jesus these who thought they were righteous were really not and that Jesus was sent to die for our sins. These deeply connected men and women spread the Gospel/Good News through out the lands of old. And like stories of old they were passed down and left for interpretation. But through the years the meaning rings loud and clear. God has the last word and we as humans should try our best to live up to those standards.
Matthew 28:18-20  And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right

I read a story in the paper the other day that if both parties would have backed off and looked logically at the situation it would not have escalated as it did. It seems harder and harder for people to do this now. It seems that there are some who are out for themselves and have never learned what it takes to be humble. What is it going to hurt if you let some one go who cut you off in traffic? How serious is it to let someone with two items go before your whole grocery basket  at the grocery store? How about an argument? So many things we can choose to let go, it's not life or death. Let it go. Meanness never gets you anywhere. Vindictiveness never gets you anywhere. Be humble sometime. Jesus did all of the time.
Philippians 2:5-8 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Let God Arise

In ancient times the people wrote stories and songs to describe everyday life. Very similar to today's music and expression through song. So imagine walking through a market place hearing someone break out in song or a hymn. Stories were written as if someone were to speak them rather then read them. We come to one of the most noted song writers of the day, King David. He was blessed with this and many more talents. Most note worthy were his writings, reflection of his feelings, his life, his down falls, his humanness in the book of Psalms in the Bible. Imagine if you were to put his lyrics to a melody today. They would definitely be applicable to our world. Words and song of expression. No different then someone coming home after a hard days work and playing the guitar or the piano. Or using a sound machine/computer to put music to lyric. The word psalm comes from the Greek word psalm oi, which means;music of the lyre or songs sung to a harp. Psalms 68:4 Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds--his name is the LORD--and rejoice before him.

Go Towards The Light

There is a lesson I learned late in life. And I preface this by saying I had never been in the rural part of the south until my later years. Being raised in the military, I was always used to a well lit facility or close to a city with a lot of lights. But when you are in the "country" once it gets dark it is pitch black unless there is a moon. If you drive those rural roads there are no street lights. The only thing you see is what is in your per feral vision. Nocturnal animals seem to thrive in the darkness, but we humans don't. I was taught by my father once he moved out there to that rural area, if you get lost at night go towards the lights. I said to myself what light? Little did I know that because it was so pitch black out in the area in which my dad lived that if you looked far off into the distance you can see the orange haze of the city lights reflecting off of the dark sky. Then what my dad said made so much sense. If you get lost go towards the light. This very concept can be applied spiritually as well. If you find yourself feeling lost or off track follow the light. And the light is God himself. Ask for guidance. Ask for favor. Ask for mercy. God is waiting for that very thing. Psalms 43:3 Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.

Prophets Of Old

If you have been going to church a short while like myself, you don't hear about the prophets of the old testament too much. Oh, you hear of the popular ones Moses, Elijah, etc. But you hear little of prophets like Amos. If you have a study bible you will note that Amos was a vocal one in a sense of for the farmers, and poor people of the day. He wrote he's feelings and prophesies more then he spoke them. But what struck me about this chapter is the similarity to today's world. Back then the prosperity of the Elites was based on the manipulation of debt and credit, wealthy landowners  amassed capital and estates at the expense of the small farmers. The thin line of credit extended if not satisfied could cost the farmer his home and his property. Wow does this sound like the banks and wall streets shenanigans. Here's the difference between today and ancient times. In this particular case Amos knew that all this wrong doing by these greedy elitist was not going to go unpunished, it may have took a few years, but God had no mercy on these people, their land, homes or families. Destroyed them he did. Fast forward to today. Makes you wonder, what is and what will happen. I do know that our weather systems are being affected by "carbon emissions"? The earth is shaking a little more. I know science explains these things away. And I can understand that. I just believe other wise.
2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.
