There is a lesson I learned late in life. And I preface this by saying I had never been in the rural part of the south until my later years. Being raised in the military, I was always used to a well lit facility or close to a city with a lot of lights. But when you are in the "country" once it gets dark it is pitch black unless there is a moon. If you drive those rural roads there are no street lights. The only thing you see is what is in your per feral vision. Nocturnal animals seem to thrive in the darkness, but we humans don't. I was taught by my father once he moved out there to that rural area, if you get lost at night go towards the lights. I said to myself what light? Little did I know that because it was so pitch black out in the area in which my dad lived that if you looked far off into the distance you can see the orange haze of the city lights reflecting off of the dark sky. Then what my dad said made so much sense. If you get lost go towards the light. This very concept can be applied spiritually as well. If you find yourself feeling lost or off track follow the light. And the light is God himself. Ask for guidance. Ask for favor. Ask for mercy. God is waiting for that very thing. Psalms 43:3 Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.
