You would have to look at the book of Job to see how a seemingly good upright man of God suffered. Compare his story to that of a friend or family member. One whom you know treats people right. Always giving. Blessed. Humble. God fearing. One who seems to be walking that path of righteousness. Only to find that this person has had some very tragic things happen in their lives. God knows what and how a person maintains their disposition. We go through crisis. Passages. We are sometimes carried to the brink while doing so. However we are never given up on. Here's the amazing thing, once through the fire, (you may experience several in your lifetime) you realize you are still here. You have been to what seemed to hell and back unscathed. You thank God and his angels for never giving up. Being grateful to have survived. Now you ask with conviction, "God what can I do for you?" His answer: Just serve me with grace & mercy.
