When we are young and coming into our own very rarely does one think about getting old. Not much thought goes into being elderly. Yes, some have been told or taught how to save money. So that one is able to live comfortably when retirement comes.
But to actually sit down and really really think the "what if scenarios".
What if your career had you caring for babies who's mothers abandoned them in the hospital? What if all of your life you cared about someone else, who had issues (drinking, drugs, running the streets)? What if you had to move over and over again with those same babies that you end up adopting? What if you had to rely on someone else to go everywhere because you never learned to drive? What if you learned that you had a debilitating disease that would prevent you from walking, standing and you were bed ridden at a fairly early age in life? What if you had to depend on these same babies that you raised to take care of you, feed you, bath you, clothe you? But these children, now grown had their own issues which begin to seep through the cracks. You are helpless, having to depend on someone else for your every need. No thinking on these things at that young age is not common. But when you have grown older, hopefully wiser and are able to do for others, think about that person, it could be you.
Luke 6:31 Do unto others as you would have them do unto to you.
