When you read the first four chapters of the New Testament, you see that the authors tell their version of the events that happened as Jesus traveled. Most of the events pretty much parallel one another with the exception of Jesus going off on the merchants in the Temple.
Matthew 21:13 Jesus says it is written my houses shall be called a house of prayer but you have made it a den of thieves.
Mark 11: 15-17 Is not my house to be made a house of prayer for all nations? But you have made it a den of thieves.
Luke 19 :45-46 My house is a house of prayer and you have made it a den of thieves
But the most dramatic and most telling. The chapter and verse(s) that show the actual anger, the result of the crimes and what the future holds is in John 2:14-22.
Jesus actually fashions a whip, drives the cattle the sheep the chickens and the men and women out of the temple. Over turned the tables, threw the money outside. Jesus said Take these things away! Do not make my Fathers house a house of merchandise. The disciples remembered a prophesy written that said Zeal for your house has eaten me up. After all of this the Jews said to Jesus "So what sign do you have that this is wrong? And what makes you the boss?"Jesus answered and said here's the sign "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up".
If you know your Biblical history, the temple(Jesus) was, tortured, mocked and killed on the cross. Jesus rose on the third day, proving that all that had been prophesied came to pass and that through him the "temple" was built in Gods image everlasting.
