2 Chronicles 6: 2
The Lord said He would dwell in the dark cloud.
I have surely built You an exalted house,
And a place for You to dwell in forever.
Imagine as a father you have been given a tremendous task by your father. The responsibility of a nation rest on your shoulders. Because what ever decisions are made they are going to effect generations to come. Imagine working hard to please your father and wanting so desperately his approval even after you have messed up really really bad. This was David's relationship with God. David was given restitution for his sins, however he was not to provide the ultimate gift ; as was promised. No, God's temple was to be built by his son Solomon. The rest is history.
